CalMat: The Los Angeles-based producer of cement, asphalt and other building materials said second-quarter earnings jumped 49% from last year to $17.1 million. Revenue climbed 7% to $176.5 million. The profit results include a $3.4-million net gain from the disposal of some properties division assets.
