JERUSALEM — Israeli officers walked out of an army gathering when they interpreted an Arab entertainer’s anti-war song as an attack on their country’s policies, newspapers reported.
The singer was Haya Samir, the only Arab woman ever to serve in the Israeli army, where she is featured in an entertainment troupe.
“They can go to hell,” newspapers quoted her as saying about the weekend walkout. “I didn’t intend a political song. It was a song about life.”
