Court OKs Federated Settlement: A record $12.1-million settlement won by Federated Group employees and applicants who were required to take lie detector tests received final court approval. Alameda Superior Court Judge Demetrios Agretelis approved the settlement on the eve of the trial. Federated is an electronics retailer based in City of Commerce. The award is the largest recovery under California law for invasion of privacy, according to Brad Seligman, who represented Federated’s employees and applicants. Part of the settlement will be spent on finding those who qualify for the money.
