BUDAPEST, Hungary — The severed right hand of Hungary’s founding king was paraded through the streets of Budapest on Sunday for the first time under Communist rule.
Thousands of Hungarians turned out to see the Holy Right Hand of St. Stephen carried through the city in a transparent casket.
Catholic primate Laszlo Paskai, who conducted a Mass before the first procession of its kind since 1947, said the 11th-Century relic is Hungary’s “ultimate symbol of national revival.”
