A suspect has been arrested in connection with break-ins, rapes and robberies that had terrorized elderly Oak Park residents, San Diego police said Wednesday.
Manuel Lucious, 29, of the 3800 block of Superba Street in Southeast San Diego, was arrested at his home by San Diego police and state parole officers at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
Lucious was booked into the downtown jail, where he is being held on suspicion of two rapes, armed robbery, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, Robinson said. Bail was set at $125,000.
Senior citizens in the Oak Park neighborhood reported three robberies between Aug. 23-26 in which three men were attacked and a woman raped inside homes. Police said at the time they believed the crimes were related.
Lucious was arrested after state parole authorities noted similarities between his past record and the Oak Park incidents, according to Robinson.
