The Santa Monica Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed plan for a mixed-use commercial project near Santa Monica Airport on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the East Wing of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St.
The project, located at the northwest corner of Bundy Drive and Airport Avenue, as proposed by Reliance Development Group includes 1.4 million square feet of office space, 29,868 square feet of retail shops and restaurants, a 9,000-square-foot child-care center, and 4,598 parking spaces.
The preliminary design calls for nine six-story buildings arranged around three major landscaped areas. The project will be built in four phases, beginning in 1991 and taking from seven to nine years to complete.
The commission will also discuss possible uses of excess airport land not used by the project.
