A woman who used the “battered spouse” defense against charges she killed her lesbian lover was convicted of second-degree murder in West Palm Beach, Fla. Annette Green, 30, was found guilty by a jury in the 1988 shooting death of her 11-year lover, Ivonne Julio. Defense attorney William Lasley had said that Julio beat and tormented Green for years.
