THE SIDELINES : 2 More Upsets at Geneva Open

GENEVA — Third-seeded Andres Gomez of Ecuador and sixth-seeded Marcelo Filippini of Uruguay were ousted today in the second round of the Geneva Open tennis tournament, leaving only one seeded player in the competition.
Gomez was upset 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-5 by Argentina’s Eduardo Bengoechea, while Lars Jonsson of Sweden defeated Filippini 6-3, 7-5.
Argentine Guillermo Perez-Roldan, the No. 4 seed, remains the lone seeded player left in the tournament following Tuesday’s rash of upsets, including top-seeded Alberto Mancini of Argentina and No. 2 Sergio Bruguera of Spain.
