Oprah Winfrey will be broadcasting today (3 p.m. on Channnel 7) from Charleston, S.C., a city that suffered more than $2 billion in damages from Hurricane Hugo. Working in conjunction with the American Red Cross, Winfrey will announce a toll-free telephone number throughout her hour-long program for viewers who want to help hurricane victims. Later this month, the show will leave its Chicago base and go on the road for two weeks. Winfrey & Co. will originate from New York City for a week starting Oct. 30, then move to Los Angeles for the week of Nov. 6.
