Countywide : Jewish Group Purchases a Facility for the Aged

Heritage Pointe, a nonprofit organization formed three years ago to find a Jewish home for the aging in Orange County, has announced an agreement to buy a 179-room retirement facility in Mission Viejo. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Retirement Inns of America, based in Los Angeles, had put the recently completed, 5.7-acre facility called the Inn at Mission Viejo on the market after a decision to get out of the health-care business, according to Victor Klein, a board member with Heritage Pointe.
“It means Jewish people will have a place to go and feel comfortable,” he said. Plans include construction of a kosher kitchen and Jewish worship services and Jewish cultural programs, he said.
There is no Jewish residential living community at present between Los Angeles and San Diego.
Heritage Pointe is planning a major fund-raising campaign to assist in purchasing the property and remodeling it, Klein said.
