CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Youth Pleads Guilty to Murdering Pair

A teen-ager charged in the racially motivated slayings of two migrant workers in San Diego County pleaded guilty to two first-degree murder counts shortly after a Superior Court judge ruled that his confession could be used against him. In changing his plea, Kenneth Alexander Kovzelove, 18, of San Diego, admitted shooting Hilario Salgado Castaneda and Matilde de la Sancha, both 18, last November as the victims walked along a Rancho Penasquitos road. Kovzelove faces a minimum sentence of 25 years and a maximum of life in state prison for the murders.
