Abortion Debate at State Level

McDowell considers abortion “a political question of the first order--that is to say, it is a moral issue,” I disagree. As a moral issue, it should be resolved by the individual, not by Big Brother.
McDowell also implies that the Webster case returned the abortion issue to the states from the federal government. To the contrary, it removed some of the power and responsibility of the citizens and gave it to the states. Conservatives who champion the individual and are wary of centralized authority cannot avoid the contradiction of these principles by praising Webster.
