SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Peery Scores 4 Touchdowns in Canyon Victory

Running back Chris Peery ran for three touchdowns and caught a pass for a fourth score Friday night to lead Canyon High over Antelope Valley, 35-6, in a Golden League game at Canyon.
Peery, who rushed for 181 yards in 25 carries, scored on runs of 28, five and four yards and had a 24-yard reception for a touchdown.
Quarterback Tim Beidle led the Cowboys’ passing attack, completing 15 of 25 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Clint Beauer, the Valley-area’s top receiver, caught seven passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.
The win pushed Canyon (4-3-1 overall, 3-0 in league play) over the .500 mark for the first time this season. Antelope Valley dropped to 1-7, 0-3.
Canyon took a 28-0 lead at halftime as its defense held the Antelopes to 38 yards.
Antelope Valley quarterback Tony Abrams did not complete a pass in seven first-half attempts but finished 14 of 31 for 117 yards.
