India Express Train Derails; 52 Killed

NEW DELHI — An express train traveling from New Delhi to Calcutta derailed Wednesday, killing at least 52 people and injuring 64, news reports said.
Ten of the Toofan Express’ 18 coaches derailed outside the railroad station at Sakaldiha, 435 miles southeast of New Delhi, a rail spokesman said. The cause of the derailment was not known.
Press Trust of India and United News of India said one of the derailed cars plunged into a water-filled ditch.
