The University of San Diego men’s and women’s basketball teams begin the 1989-90 season in exhibition games tonight.
The men play the first of two preseason contests against an Australian club team called East Side Melbourne Spectators at 7:30 at the USD Sports Center. The Toreros play Athletes in Action Nov. 16 before opening the season at home against Cal Lutheran Nov. 24.
USD’s women travel to Cal Poly Pomona for a 7 p.m. game. The Toreras take on an English national team Nov. 14 at home before opening their regular season at UC Irvine Nov. 25.
Neal Meyer, a 6-foot-3 freshman guard from Scottsdale, Ariz., injured his knee in practice last week and is out for the year with ligament damage.
