Police Chief Nominated for U.S. Marshal’s Post

West Covina Police Chief Craig L. Meacham has been nominated by President Bush to serve as U.S. marshal for the central district of California.
The post covers Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. If confirmed by the Senate, Meacham will succeed Sam Cicchino, who has headed the office since January, 1988.
Meacham, 58, began his law enforcement career in 1955 as a patrol officer for the Whitter Police Department. In 1970, he joined West Covina as deputy chief and was named chief in 1978.
