Gardena’s Oshiro Wins Tennis Title

Top-seeded Julie Oshiro of Gardena High defeated second-seeded Monica Kocian of Fairfax, 6-2, 6-2, to win the L.A. City Section singles tennis championship at the Racquet Centre in North Hollywood.
Oshiro, who also led Gardena’s girls’ team to the L.A. City 3-A title in November, lost only six games and swept eight sets Tuesday in the four-round individual tournament.
