Study Urges Trading Reforms: A government study recommended that federal futures regulators keep better tabs on “broker associations” to prevent possible trading abuses such as those uncovered in Chicago last year. Among the recommendations made to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which oversees the futures markets, was one to define the term broker association and require exchanges to register the members of such associations to allow exchanges to monitor their trading activity as a safeguard against abuses.
