Region : Panel Warns Ex-Candidate

The state Fair Political Practices Commission has sent a warning letter to an unsuccessful candidate in last June’s special board election of the Three Valleys Municipal Water District.
Margaret Szczepaniak of Pomona violated state election laws, the commission ruled, when she failed to file notice that she was affiliated with the Committee for a Responsible Water District.
The commission noted in its ruling last month, however, that Szczepaniak did file a consolidated campaign statement, which listed her affiliation with the political committee. “There was at least some disclosure,” said commission spokesman Sandy Michioku.
