Dick Motta was named coach of the Sacramento Kings on Thursday and vowed to turn a longtime losing franchise into a winner.
The Kings, with the third-worst record in the league at 7-20 before Thursday night’s game against Denver, said that Motta would assume coaching duties for Saturday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
During his 19-year NBA career, Motta coached at Chicago, Washington and Dallas, his teams winning 808 games and losing 750.
