Police were looking for two men suspected in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in a Northridge alley Monday afternoon.
Fernando Velasco was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center shortly after the 1:45 p.m. shooting south of the 19200 block of Parthenia Street, Los Angeles Police said. Police had not determined a motive for the killing.
Velasco was standing in the alley when a pickup truck approached, stopped near the man and slowly backed up, said Connie Troutt, a civilian Police Department employee. A passenger drew a handgun, firing three rounds and striking Velasco in the chest, she said.
The truck continued backing down the alley, then drove north on Tampa Avenue, Troutt said.
