Seven Proves Anything but Lucky for Reseda Boys’ Basketball Team

Reseda boys’ basketball Coach Jeff Halpern knew what he wanted to avoid in this week’s games against Birmingham and Sylmar.
“We gotta get away from these unlucky sevens,” he said.
Unlucky sevens?
The number seven has been bad luck for Reseda in recent games. Each of the team’s past three losses (two to Grant, one to Kennedy) has been by seven points. In addition, those three losses have brought Reseda’s total number of losses this season to seven.
It’s getting so that Halpern is taking nothing for granted.
“Thank God both of our games are at 4 p.m. this week,” Halpern said.
City Section teams are allowed to play one game a week with a 7 p.m. tip-off time.
The Regents avoided the seven jinx in a 74-52 win over Birmingham on Wednesday and will try to avoid it again in today’s game against Sylmar.
