CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Cult Leader’s Wife to Be Extradited
- Share via
Cult leader Jeffrey Lundgren’s wife, Alice, has agreed to extradition to Ohio to face five counts of conspiracy to commit murder in the ritualistic slaying of five members of a family there, according to her court-appointed lawyer. Attorney Kay Sunday said Alice Lundgren, 38, who has denied any role in the murders, decided to strike out on her own and return to Lake County, Ohio, leaving her husband and son, Damon, 19, behind to face possible extradition hearings. Jeffrey Lundgren, 39, a defrocked preacher in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and 12 of his followers have been charged in the shooting deaths of Dennis Avery, 49; his wife, Cheryl, 42, and their three daughters, Trina, 15, Rebecca, 13, and Karen, 6, in a barn near Kirtland, Ohio, last year. Bodies of the victims were discovered on Jan. 3. The three Lundgrens and two other followers were later arrested in the San Diego area.
