A Mesa College student shot his ex-girlfriend in the mouth, then fatally shot himself after he went to her apartment late Wednesday night and discovered that she had a new boyfriend, authorities said.
David Duick, 23, of Paradise Valley, Ariz., died of gunshot wounds in the head from a .38-caliber revolver, said Ken Bell, San Diego County deputy coroner.
Duick entered the second-story apartment on Mildred Street and shot Elizabeth Aronson, 22, in the mouth, Bell said. She is in fair condition at UC San Diego Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
John T. Ferguson, 23, who was also in the apartment, jumped out a window during the incident, Bell said. He suffered a broken wrist and is in good condition at Mercy Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
In an incident Jan. 20, Duick broke into Aronson’s apartment about 6:20 a.m. and fired a gun. He surrendered 2 1/2 hours later.
