WOMEN’S ROUNDUP : CS Long Beach Too Powerful for UC Irvine

UC Irvine guard Kathy Lizzarraga scored 23 points, but Cal State Long Beach had far too much firepower as the eighth-ranked 49ers routed the Anteaters, 88-64, Saturday night in a Big West Conference basketball game in the Bren Center at UC Irvine.
Penny Moore and Dana Wilkerson scored 19 points apiece for the 49ers (16-4, 7-1 in the Big West). CS Long Beach, which led, 50-26, at halftime, outrebounded the Anteaters, 44-32.
The Anteaters are 0-8 in Big West play and 1-17 overall.
UCLA 84, Washington State 74--Forward Sandra VanEmbricqs scored a season-high 23 points and had nine rebounds as the Bruins snapped a two-game losing streak by winning the Pacific 10 Conference game at Pauley Pavilion.
VanEmbricqs became the 12th UCLA women’s player to score more than 1,000 points in a career. Michele Wootton added 16 points for the Bruins (11-8, 6-3). Angie Miller of Washington State (12-7, 4-5) scored 24 points.
