IN BRIEF : Bnai Zion to Honor Margaret Novak

Cable television producer/host Margaret Marketa Novak, who as a child was a survivor of the Auschwitz internment camp, will receive the annual America-Israel Friendship Media Award from Bnai Zion, Western Region, at a dinner at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Sinai Temple, Westwood.
Novak, a native of Czechoslovakia, was the only member of her family of nine who survived internment during World War II. She spent a year in a home for displaced children in France before coming to Los Angeles in 1947.
She has been in active in Jewish and other civic and charitable organizations and is host of “Marketa’s People and Places,” which is seen on public access television.
Bnai Zion is a fraternal organization that supports humanitarian projects in Israel. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the early childhood diagnostic and treatment center at the Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa. Information: (213) 655-9128.
