John O’Grady; ‘Hollywood’s No. 1 Private Eye’

John O’Grady, 68, who with some justification called himself “Hollywood’s No. 1 Private Eye.” Author of a 1974 autobiography called simply “O’Grady,” the private detective in a lengthy and checkered career was a bodyguard for “Deep Throat” star Linda Lovelace, helped Elvis Presley win a paternity suit, helped find the body of theatrical producer Roy Alexander Radin in 1983 and most recently placed an employee on a TV production set where drug use had been alleged. He was with the Los Angeles Police Department for 20 years, the last 12 as head of the Hollywood narcotics detail, before opening his agency in 1966. In Glendale on Feb. 2 of cancer.
