With Oscar nominations to be announced Wednesday, here’s the tally of the most heavily hyped pictures, performances and the like in the pages of Daily Variety and the Hollywood Reporter:
The Finnish-made “Talvisota,” in a realm of its own, leads all campaigns with a whopping 112 pages of ads.
Then: Fox’s “The War of the Roses,” 53 full-page ads; Warner’s “Batman,” 49 pages; Tri-Star’s “Steel Magnolias,” 45 pages; Orion’s “Crimes and Misdemeanors,” 38 pages, and--in a tie--Fox’s “Enemies, a Love Story” and Columbia’s “When Harry Met Sally,” 36 pages each.
