Undercover officers arrested 40 people in Sun Valley in a crackdown on prostitution by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division late Friday and early Saturday.
Female undercover officers arrested 39 people on charges of soliciting sex and one person on suspicion of drunk driving, Officer Bob Rose said. Those arrested were held at the Foothill jail or cited and released at the scene. The operation lasted from 4 p.m. Friday to 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officers made the arrests after they were solicited while walking on the sidewalk near San Fernando Road and Allegheny Street.
The area, which is largely industrial, was targeted by the task force because of a large increase in prostitution, Rose said. The one-day crackdown netted the most arrests for the division so far this year, he said.
