FIELD HOCKEY : Dutch Beat Australians for Title, 3-1

The Netherlands’ powerful corner combination of Wietske De Ruiter and Ingrid Wolff led the Dutch national field hockey team past Australia, 3-1, in the championship game of the USA Trophy tournament Sunday at East Los Angeles College.
De Ruiter, 19, opened the scoring eight minutes into the match with her sixth goal to win the tournament scoring title. Wolff added her fifth goal early in the second half, and the Netherlands also got strong goaltending from Jacqueline Toxopeus.
Tracey Fuchs scored two goals to lead the United States past Canada, also by a score of 3-1, in the third-place game.
Fuchs scored three goals in the tournament.
