Viva la Raza!For the first time, Mexican movie makers are honoring their Chicano counterparts by showing Chicano feature films and videos and opening a dialogue with them through a series of informal meetings and workshops that continue through Thursday. Luis Valdez, director-writer of “La Bamba,” and “Zoot Suit,” will be honored by Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari who will present him with an award. Other Chicano film makers and artists attending the event are Moctesuma Esparza, producer of “Milagro Beanfield War,” rock guitarist Carlos Santana and Gregory Nava, producer of “El Norte.”
