ON THE SIDELINES : Ortmayer Rejoins the Raiders

Steve Ortmayer rejoined the Raiders today to work with special teams and football operations.
Ortmayer, 46, spent the last three years with the San Diego Chargers as director of football operations. Before that, from 1978 to ‘86, he was special teams coach and director of football operations with the Raiders.
“We’re glad to have Steve Ortmayer back with the Raiders,” Coach Art Shell said. “He did an outstanding job with us for nine years and his experience--both on and off the field--will again be of great value to the organization.”
Ortmayer began his NFL career in 1975 as special teams coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he worked until joining the Raiders in 1978.
