A Garden Grove resident suspected of stabbing a 19-year-old woman and running off with her purse has been arrested by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, police said.
The suspect, Rodney Duane Butler, 28, is being held in Huntington Beach Jail on $50,000 bail. He faces charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Butler was arrested Thursday in Los Angeles after a deputy spotted a vehicle with Wisconsin license plates matching the description of a car listed on a warrant for Butler’s arrest, Huntington Beach police said.
On the morning of Feb. 6, Butler stabbed a Huntington Beach woman with a sharp object after stealing her purse, police said. The woman received a minor puncture wound to the shoulder.
Later that day, he tried to use the woman’s credit cards at a Westminster gas station and a Mervyn’s department store in Cypress, police said.
