Six Members of Police Unit Put Out to Pasture

MIAMI — Six retiring members of the Metro-Dade Police Mounted Patrol have been literally put out to pasture.
The county commission voted Tuesday to give the aging horses--Chief, Doni, Skip-n-Joe, Santanna, Moonlight Gambler and CCF the Gambler--to the police officers who rode them.
All six horses were among those donated to the police when the Mounted Patrol was formed in 1982. The horses, based at Tropical Park race track, patrol parks, malls and beaches.
