Series of Power Outages Cuts Service to 2,260

A series of power outages in the Malibu area cut off service to local businesses and homes--and the entire Pepperdine University campus--for much of Friday afternoon.
A total of 2,260 customers were affected by the electricity failure, said Bob Goodlow, a spokesman for Southern California Edison. “The cause of the failure is unknown and is under investigation,” he said.
Pepperdine University experienced a complete blackout until its emergency power system was turned on, said Jeff Bliss, a university spokesman. Some classes were moved to sunlit hallways and lobbies, the campus amphitheater, and outdoor spots, he said.
