Houston’s Leroy Burrell won the long jump and both sprints Saturday in a track and field meet with UCLA at Drake Stadium.
However, the UCLA men’s team won the meet, 83-62. The Bruins are 4-0 this season and 45-0-1 since Bob Larsen became coach in 1985.
The UCLA women also beat Houston, 75-60, as the Bruins’ Tracie Millett won the javelin and discus.
In a non-scoring meet at USC, Trojan sprinter Quincy Watts pulled up before getting the baton on the anchor leg of the 400-meter relay. He suffered a cramp in his left hamstring.
Louisiana State’s Slip Watkins won the 100 meters in 10.35 seconds, and his teammate, Llewalyn Starks, won the long jump at 25 feet 1/2 inch.
LSU’s men and women are defending NCAA champions.
