COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Walker Gets Four Hits; UCI Beats Pacific, 12-7

Ray Walker had four hits, scored three runs and had one run batted in to lead UC Irvine to a 12-7 victory over University of the Pacific in a Big West Conference baseball game Saturday at Irvine.
Chris Gallego had two hits and one RBI and Billy Bardens had a two-run single in the fifth inning for Irvine, which completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers (13-26, 0-6 in conference).
Irvine (26-17, 4-5) had 15 hits and scored four runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Chris Huber (6-2) pitched eight innings, allowed eight hits and four runs (two unearned), struck out three and walked one for the victory.
In Big West Conference softball:
Fresno State 1-3, Cal State Fullerton 0-0--Marcie Green (8-1) and Carrie Dever (19-2) pitched second-ranked Fresno State (43-8) to a sweep of the fourth-ranked Titans (37-12, 15-6) at Fullerton.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 5, UC Santa Barbara 1--Richard Lubner defeated Benson Curb, 6-4, 6-2, and Shige Kanroji defeated Randy Flachman, 6-2, 6-4, to lead visiting UC Irvine (15-10).
In Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. men’s play:
UC Santa Barbara 3, UC Irvine 1--Steve Florentine had 20 kills and Scott Recknor had 14 but UC Irvine (8-14, 3-14) lost its final match of the season, 12-15, 15-12, 15-3, 15-11.
At the Nevada Las Vegas track and field invitational, UC Irvine’s Mike Morales remained undefeated in the hammer throw with a winning toss of 204 feet 6 inches. Irvine’s Walter Harris won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.7.
