A 43-year-old Ontario man was killed early Sunday when he and another passenger were thrown from a pickup that collided with a car on Interstate 805 just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol said.
Donald James Bittner was reported dead at the scene of the 5 a.m. crash. The second passenger, Stephen Tyler Trull of Chino Hills, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. His condition was not known late Sunday, authorities said.
Officers said the late-model pickup was traveling north on the freeway when it veered into a car and rolled several times. The driver of the truck, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
None of the four occupants of the second car were injured, authorities said.
