Two people were killed and two others were critically injured when a passenger car collided with a bobtail truck on the Golden State Freeway early this morning.
A man and a woman, described as in their 30’s, were pronounced dead at the scene, said Pat Marek, spokesman for Los Angeles Fire Department. Their names were not released pending notification of relatives.
The crash occurred just before 5:00 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway, just south of the Glendale Freeway, when the passenger car collided with the truck and was crushed beneath its frame, said Officer Vince Zambrana. It took firefighters 45 minutes to pull the two trapped victims from wreckage. Traffic on the heavily traveled freeway was tied up for hours at the height of the early-morning rush.
