Martin Marietta Gets Army Mortar Contract

Bethesda, Md. — Martin Marietta Corp. said it has received a $20.2--million contract to manufacture 63 advanced mortar systems and 83,000 rounds of ammunition for the U.S. Army’s armament, munitions and chemical command in Rock Island, Ill.
The 120-millimeter mortar system, which has a range of up to about four miles, is designed to replace the Army’s 107-millimeter mortar system, which has been in service for more that 40 years.
