Yendork Wins Girls’ Triple Jump

Juliana Yendork of Walnut High won the girls’ triple jump Friday in the Mt. San Antonio Relays at Mt. San Antonio College.
Yendork won with a wind-aided mark of 41 feet 10 1/2 inches. Her official best of 41-6 1/2 was a meet record, breaking the record of 40-7 set by Jackie Anderson of Spring Valley Monte Vista in 1987.
Karen Hecox of West Covina South Hills surged in the final half-lap to win the 3,000 meters in 10:00.1. Hector Arias of Mexico won the boys’ 3,000, defeating James Menon of San Luis Obispo, 8:28.21 to 8:36.23.
