Datum Inc.: The Anaheim manufacturer of precision frequency products and timing instrumentation reported net earnings of $70,000 for the first quarter. It had net income of $213,000 for the like quarter of 1989. Sales declined 8%, to $7.8 million from $8.5 million. Louis B. Horwitz, president, called the results disappointing but not unexpected. The company had earlier said “soft” business in the fourth quarter last year would lead to lower results in the first quarter of 1990.
