Sheriff’s deputies arrested two teen-agers Friday night who they suspect had been vandalizing a construction site in Canyon Country.
As part of a stakeout, deputies secretly watched the site after officials at Griffin Construction Co. complained that homes the company is building had sustained $30,000 worth of damage in one week.
Vandals had dumped paint in the fireplaces, scrawled graffiti on the walls and had destroyed plumbing, said Deputy Gerald Newbold.
At 9:30 p.m., deputies spotted two boys, ages 13 and 15, at the construction site.
The juveniles ran when they saw the deputies but were caught after a brief foot pursuit.
The two were arrested for felony vandalism and released to the custody of their parents, Newbold said.
