David Farmer, of Philadelphia, beat Roberto Gaggioli and Mike Costello by six seconds to win the Du Pont Pro Cycling Championships in Washington.
The event was the first of three in the Du Pont series, the second coming in Minneapolis on Sept. 23 and the third in Orange County Nov. 11.
