Altadena : Zeke the Sheik Loses
Timothy (Zeke the Sheik) Dundon lost his bid for the Altadena Town Council on Saturday, as nine candidates vied for seven open seats on the 14-member advisory board.
Dundon, 47, had hoped that interest in his 30-foot-high compost pile would help catapult him onto the council, which reports to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Dundon has received widespread attention during his recent battles to keep the county from bulldozing his heap.
But another first-time candidate, Lucille Colbert, handily defeated him, 50 to 23. Each member of the council is elected from the census tract in which he or she resides.
In the only other contested race, incumbent Cue Mackenzie defeated Steven Lamb, 135 to 25.
Three unchallenged incumbents--Frank Bridal, Robert Powe and Albert Mitchell--were returned to the council. Also elected without opposition were Michael Murray and John Canby.
