LOCAL : Collision Kills Rosemead Man

A Rosemead man was killed when his car collided with a pickup truck in Los Alamitos, police said today.
Steven Chen, 25, died at Long Beach Memorial Hospital at 7:04 p.m. Thursday about two hours after he was airlifted by helicopter from the crash scene.
Los Alamitos Cpl. Rod McKenzie said initial investigations revealed that Chen attempted to make a left turn as he was leaving work on Los Vaqueros Circle.
Chen failed to yield the right-of-way and his Toyota station wagon was rammed by an oncoming Ford pickup, McKenzie said.
McKenzie said Chen died of massive head, chest and abdominal injuries.
The incident was the first fatal traffic accident in Los Alamitos since October, 1986.
