A Tony for Seattle Rep: Seattle Repertory Theatre has won the annual Tony award presented to a regional theater. The award is based on a recommendation by the American Theatre Critics Assn. The 27-year-old Seattle Rep launched two plays that went on to win regular Tonys on Broadway: “I’m Not Rappaport” and “The Heidi Chronicles.” Some of the other plays that went on from Seattle to fame elsewhere are Bill Irwin’s “Largely New York” and Richard Greenberg’s “Eastern Standard,” opening this week at the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood after a Broadway run.
