China Fires Local Party Leader for Bribery

BEIJING — The Communist Party chief in the east-central Chinese city of Luoyang has been dismissed for taking bribes and trying to cover up his illegal activities, an official newspaper said Wednesday.
Wu Zhenguo was stripped of his post for accepting an air conditioner, refrigerator, clothing and cash worth $1,330 as bribes between 1985 and 1987, according to the Liberation Army Daily.
