Lukas’ Stella Madrid Wins the Acorn

NEW YORK — Wayne Lukas-trained Stella Madrid led all the way, winning the $174,300 Acorn Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by 1 1/2 lengths Saturday at Belmont Park.
The victory was the second in a row in the Acorn for Lukas, who last year saddled 3-year-old filly champion Open Mind to victory in the race, the first in New York’s filly Triple Tiara series.
