Dunleavy Says He Talked With Lakers’ West

Mike Dunleavy, a Milwaukee Buck assistant coach, has confirmed that Laker General Manager Jerry West has interviewed him for the Lakers’ head coaching job should Pat Riley leave.

Dunleavy met with West in Chicago, where NBA executives are gathered for a pre-draft camp for college prospects. Dunleavy could not be reached for comment Saturday, but he was quoted in Saturday’s editions of the Milwaukee Journal that he met with West for an “informal interview.”

Dunleavy, a Buck assistant for three seasons, told the newspaper: “What it comes down to is the Lakers still have a coach. So, basically, I don’t think about the job. If that were to open up, I’d have a chance for it. The way it is, I’ll wait for him (West) to call.”
